Ron Kalinovsky

Biografie

Ron Kalinovsky is a bass in his fourth year of undergraduate study, completing his BM in Voice Performance under the guidance of Peter Volpe. Originally from NYC, Ron has lived in Bloomington, IN since the age of nine. Growing up, he participated in multiple IU Opera productions in child roles and children’s choruses, eventually deciding to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was an operatic bass in the Soviet Union. Since starting his studies at IU, Ron has participated in five operas as a member of the Opera Chorus, and last academic year, he was a part of the NOTUS contemporary vocal ensemble, participating in multiple world premiere performances. Last fall, he sang the role of Antonio in the IU production of Le nozze di Figaro. He has also performed multiple solo roles outside of school, including Betto in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at Opera Lucca in Italy, as well as Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Jerusalem Lyric Opera Studio. Last fall, he was invited to sing the part of Pan in Bach’s cantata BWV 201 with the UNESCO World Orchestra for Peace in Salzburg for their thirtieth anniversary World Concert for Peace, broadcast on Austrian national television. This summer, he is excited to be performing as Leporello in Don Giovanni with Prague Summer Nights, at the historic Estates Theater where the opera had its premiere in 1787.
