Amber Sosa

Biografie

University of Michigan student Amber Sosa is a third-year soprano pursuing a degree in Voice Performance under the instruction of Daniel Washington. She began her operatic journey in high school as a pirate in The Pirates of Penzance and has since performed in collegiate productions including Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers, Humperdinks Hänsel und Gretel, and a new work in collaboration with Santa Fe Opera called The Pigeon Keeper by by David Hanlon and Stephanie Fleischmann. Amber has also been a member of the Michigan Chamber Choir since her freshman year, where she did larger works such as Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s mass in C, and Nkeiru Okoye’s When the Caged Bird Sings, a new work. This season, she is excited to take on her first principal role as First Lady in Die Zauberflöte and hopes to continue building a career as a performer in the world of classical opera.
