Opera Season 2021/22 in Prague
It is our great pleasure to invite you for no less than 11 premieres in the upcoming season 2021/22. This extraordinary number of new productions is, of course, the result of last year’s situation, when we prepared a number of new titles but were prevented by the governmental restrictions from presenting them to the public.
Czech National Ballet premiere on-line The Sleeping Beauty
The narrative ballet The Sleeping Beauty, choreographed by Marius Petipa, was frst performed in 1890 in St Petersburg. The music was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Now its adaptation as crafted by the legendary prima ballerina Marcia Haydée is set to become part of the Czech National Ballet’s repertoire, as a remarkable artefact of the classical ballet spiritual legacy.
On-line world premiera of The Czech National Ballet
During 2020/2021 season The Czech National Ballet manages to stimualate creative energy and seeking new artistic impulses. The world online premiere of works by choreographers Douglas Lee and Alejandro Cerrudo ranks among them. Onegin at the National Theatre: revival of John Cranko’s famous ballet based on A. S. Pushkin’s novel in verse
The Czech National Ballet is about to reinclude in its repertoire a true gem among narrative dramatic ballets – Onegin. In one of his major works, the globally celebrated choreographer John Cranko brought to perfection his extraordinary art of telling stories through dance. By reviving this masterpiece, the Czech National Ballet has linked up to the trend of staging Cranko’s creations (The Taming of the Shrew, Swan Lake).
