Concert titled Brno-Prague-Hollywood will present the works of composers of the first half of the 20th century, whose lives were fundamentally and also very differently affected by the rise of Nazi power in Europe.

Programme was compiled by Karl-Heinz Steffens, the music director of the State Opera and aims to show the diversity of the works and lives of the composers featured within the Musica non grata project. From the Scherzo triste by Pavel Haas, who was murdered in Auschwitz; through Jaromír Weinberger’s operetta Frühlingsstürme (Spring Storms), whose premiere in Berlin in 1933 starred the celebrated Czech soprano Jarmila Novotná; to the Brno-born composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s music for the Hollywood blockbuster The Sea Hawk. Composing film music earned Korngold double Film Academy Award (Oscar) for "Anthony Adverse" (1936) and "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938).

The concert also closes the first "season" of the Musica non grata project.
