Dance On
DANCE ON is a new educational project that will take place at the New Stage, encompassing open classes, individual coaching and a choreography laboratory, within which the participants witness the gestation of new works. The Czech National Ballet has thus linked up to its holding dance workshops, pre-performance lectures pertaining to the specific production, podcasts and other special activities and projects.
On 30 September, the Dance On educational programme under the ND+ banner will bring all ballet fans a new opportunity to experience how choreography is created. This time, we will also focus on a topic that moves the cultural map, namely the anniversary of Franz Kafka's death.
Fraser Roach, the member of the Czech National Ballet, will present his latest creation, Boys a Bug.
It is a unique opportunity for the audience to witness the behind-the-scenes process of creating a ballet – the challenges, the triumphs, and the delicate journey dancers and choreographers take before the final performance goes to the stage.
“Boys a Bug is loosely inspired by Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, exploring the transformation of a man into an insect and his agonizing denial of his grotesque fate,” explains Fraser Roach, the choreographer.
In the rehearsal, the audience will see the incredible dancers Jakub Rašek and Romina Contreras bring this haunting tale to life with their remarkable artistry.
