Washing the Floor
A spatial haiku for any number of actors
The Estates TheatrePremiere
April 23, 2022
The first part of a three-piece project “HOME SCENE”, which explores the very essence of acting.
The actors are washing the floor of their home stage. They are not hidden behind a character, but rather enter the stage in a different role – as themselves. They pretend nothing, and yet they transform the stage almost as if they were acting.
The viewer buys a ticket and comes to the theatre at the usual show time, watching the performance until there is nothing left to wash.
A performance without any hidden meanings or symbols. An act of care and humility. The bare fact conveys a universal meaning ...
Where to buy tickets
The National Theatre sells tickets up to 6 months in advance. On 1 February at 9am we started selling tickets for performances of Drama, Ballet, Opera and Laterna magika until the end of July 2023.
What to wear?
By their appearance, attire and behaviour, the audience is obliged to adhere to the accustomed practice expected from them when attending a theatre performance.
