Prague Shakespeare Company in partnership with Play On Shakespeare presents Two Gentlemen of Verona by William Shakespeare in a modern verse translation by Amelia Roper Directed by Lisa Wolpe.
Valentine and Proteus are best friends. That is, until they meet Silvia, and their lifelong friendship is put in serious jeopardy. Can they all find their happily-ever-after? A love triangle, a forest, and disguises – The Two Gentlemen of Verona has it all. Shakespeare's gloriously silly story of love, friendship and growing up bursts onto the stage of The Estates Theater in a new 70-minute modern English verse translation by Amelia Rope that's the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for families. Directed by Lisa Wolpe with additional support from the Hitz Foundation and Play On Shakespeare.
Originally commissioned as a part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Play on! 36 playwrights translate Shakespeare program, now Play On Shakespeare (www.playonshakespeare.org).
