

Zuzana Kadlčíková
Biography
Since the beginning of the 2025/26 season, Zuzana Kadlčíková has been chief chorus master of Prague’s State Opera Chorus. From 2021 to 2025, she served as principal chorus master of the Opera of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. Since 2020, she has collaborated with the opera chorus of the National Theatre in Brno as an external chorus master (Verdi: Otello; Zámečník: Ferdy the Ant). Born in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, Zuzana Kadlčíková joined the Jitro children’s choir at the age of four. She studied choral conducting at the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava and at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (under Lubomír Mátl), where she later also studied orchestral conducting (under Rastislav Hališka). As a conductor, she made her debut in 2013 at the National Theatre in Brno with Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. While at the Slovak National Theatre, she conducted Carmen and The Kiss. She also worked as a conductor and répétiteur at the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc (2008–2012) and the Brno City Theatre (2016–2024). On the concert stage, she has collaborated with the Brno Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, the Janáček Academy Orchestra, Ars Collegium and other orchestras. She began working with choirs on a professional basis with Kantiléna (2005-2007), the children’s and youth choir of the Brno Philharmonic, with which in 2006 she won the Summa Cum Laude, the highest award at the International Youth Music Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium. She also served as chorus master of the mixed choirs Virtuosi di Mikulov (2005–2012) and Ars Brunensis in Brno (2016–2018). From 2018 to 2021, she was assistant chorus master of the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, which she prepared, among other engagements, for the annual Opernfestspiele Heidenheim. She is regularly invited to lead masterclasses and workshops for chorus masters, sits on juries of both Czech and international choral competitions, and works as a vocal coach with soloists.
