Wayne McGregor
Biography
Wayne McGregor CBE is a multi-award winning Britishchoreographer and director. He is Artistic Director of Studio Wayne McGregor, a creative nexus that pushes the frontiers of physical intelligence, encompassing creative collaborations in dance, film, music, visual art, technology and science; a touring company of dancers Company Wayne McGregor; and learning and research programmes.
Wayne McGregor is Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet, Director of Dance for the La Biennale di Venezia until 2024, and is regularly commissioned by and has works in the repertories of the most important ballet companies around the world including Opéra national de Paris, American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Bayerisches Staatsballett, Das Stuttgarter Ballett, New York City Ballet, Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen, Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg.
Most recently Wayne McGregor premiered No One is an Island in collaboration with Random International and BWMi; The Dante Project for The Royal Ballet; fashion film Torus with SHOWStudio; Living Archive and Autobiography for Company Wayne McGregor; Orpheus and Eurydice for English National Opera and Company Wayne McGregor; Sweet Charity for Donmar Warehouse; AfteRite for American Ballet Theatre; and an immersive performance for the screen Winged Bull in the Elephant Case for BBC Performance Live.
