Vitaly Efanov

Born in Russia, Vitaly Efanov graduated from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory in 1998. In 1994, he joined the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre where he performed the leading roles in Dargomyzhsky’s Rusalka, Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov and Khovanshchina, Borodin’s Prince Igor, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Eugene Onegin, Rachmaninov’s Aleko, Verdi’s Aida or Puccini’s La bohème. Since 2000, Vitaly Efanov has been soloist of the Novaya Opera Theatre in Moscow. He has guest appeared in numerous Russian cities, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal or South Korea. In 2008, he has begun his cooperation with the Metropolitan Opera, New York, where he has covered the role of the General in Prokofiev’s The Gambler, Alvise in Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, Gremin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Jacopo Fiesco in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra. In January 2011, he debuted at the Met as Sparafucile in Verdi’s Rigoletto. His other recent engagements include, among others, Pimen in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov with Dallas Opera, Konchak in Borodin’s Prince Igor with the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Wagner’s Heinrich der Vogler in Lohengrin and Marke in Tristan und Isolde, Zaccaria in Verdi‘s Nabucco or Gremin in Tchaikovsky‘s Eugene Onegin at the Novaya Opera Theatre, Moscow. Vitaly Efanov has participated in several international vocal competitions, receiving numerous awards. He won the award The Success of the Year (1999) and The Philip Morris Debut (2000) in Novosibirsk. In 2001, he became a laureate of the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria.
