Biography

Mezzo-soprano Valentina Pluzhnikova graduated from the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kiev and further honed her singing skills at the Kiev Opera Studio and then at the Opera Academy of the Polish National Theatre in Warsaw (2017–2019). From 2018–2021 she was a member of the prestigious Lindemann Project of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and from 2021–2023 a member of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan. As part of the Young Artist Project, she made her Salzburg Festival 2019 debut as Mlle Dangeville (Adriana Lecouvreur). In the same year she also made her first appearance at the Ukrainian National Opera in Kiev, in the role of Siebel (Faust). She made her debut at La Scala in the role of Tisbe (La cenerentola) and then returned here as Albine (Thaïs), Fidalma (Il matrimonio segretto), Ninetta (I vespri siciliani), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor) and the Third wood nymph (Rusalka). She appeared as Lisetta (Chiara e Serafina) at Teatro Donizetti Bergamo (2022) and as Federica (Luisa Miller) at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli (2023).
