Thorbjørn Gulbrandsøy
Biography
Norwegian tenor Thorbjørn Gulbrandsøy worked at The Norwegian National Opera in Oslo 2015–2017 where performed roles as Kudrjáš (Káťa Kabanová), Steuermann (Der fliegende Holländer), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Gastone (La traviata), Andres (Wozzeck), Pong (Turandot), Remendado (Carmen), Jaquino (Fidelio), Spoletta (Tosca) etc. He started his professional career as a baritone. He has guest appeared at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Opera North, Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, Grand Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, Oslo Philharmonic, Bergen Symphony Orchestra and at the Bergen Festival. Recent highlights include the roles of Juan (Massenet: Don Quichotte) for the Chelsea Opera Group at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, Rodolfo (La bohème) for the Nationale Reisopera in Holland and on tour in Britain, Tenor 1 (Frank Martin: Le Vin Herbé) at the Staatsoper Berlin, Rodolfo (La bohème) at Opera Nordfjord, Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) at the Opera Festival Kristiansund and Don José (Carmen) at the Nordnorsk Opera.
