Thomas Atkins

Biography

New Zealand tenor Thomas Atkins is a recent graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He has attracted serious attention from the onset of his studies and has been kindly supported by the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation. This season sees Atkins making exciting company debuts as Rodolfo La bohème with Opera North and Gothenburg Opera; as Alfredo La Traviata with Israeli Opera; and as Jaquino Fidelio at Glyndebourne Festival. On the concert platform he will join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Richard Farnes at the Barbican for a performance of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and Beethoven’s Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Jurowski at the Royal Festival Hall.
