Tereza Chyňavová

Biography

Tereza Chyňavová was born in 1984 in Litoměřice, where she also attended grammar school. Music has been part of her life since early childhood - at the age of six she started to play the piano and when she was fourteen began to concentrate on singing. In 2000 she won first place in the nationwide round of the Primary Art Schools Competition. Since 2001 she has been studying singing at the Prague Conservatoire in the class of Professor Brigita Šulcová. In 2003 she took part in Antonín Dvořák’s international singing competition in Karlovy Vary, where she won third place in the Junior section, third place in the Song section, the Interpretation Prize of the FOK Symphonic Orchestra of the Capital City of Prague, the Jarmila Novotná Prize, the Czech Radio Prague Prize and the Prize of the Friends of Music Club of Dvořák’s Region of Kralupy nad Vltavou. At the present time, she is appearing as a guest at the Pilsen Opera in Leoš Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and in the Czech premiere of Tom Johnson’s The Four Note Opera, staged by the National Theatre Opera in Prague.
