Biography
The set and costume designer Stefan Rieckhoff was born in Oldenburg in 1968. He was educated at the State Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf under the tutelage of Professor Karl Kneidl.
Between 1989 and 1993 he worked as an assistant with a number of renowned German set designers and stage directors, among them Peter Zadek, Wilfried Minks, Johannes Grützke, Wolfgang Gussmann and Willy Decker. Since 1990 he has been an independent set and costume designer and collaborated with theatres in Oberhausen, Luxembourg, Gießen, Oldenburg, Berlin, Heidelberg, Vienna, and participated in Festspielen in Bregenz.
Since the 2003-2004 season he has been the set director in the theatre in Dessau, Germany. Among others, he has designed sets for productions of the operas Fedora
(U. Giordano), The Bartered Bride (B. Smetana), Le Nozze di Figaro (W. A. Mozart), Carmen (G. Bizet) and Il Trovatore (G. Verdi).
