Sophia Heinz

Biography

Sophia Heinz is a mezzo-soprano from Maple Valley, Washington and is currently a senior at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music pursuing a Bachelor of Musical Arts in voice, and double majoring in law, history, and society. Her most recent roles with Vanderbilt Opera Theater include Juno in Handel’s Semele, Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, and Mum in Britten’s Albert Herring, directed by Dr. Gayle Shay (stage) and Jennifer McGuire (music). This fall, Sophia will be performing the role of Armelinde in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon with Vanderbilt Opera Theater. Sophia Heinz has been a featured soloist with Vanderbilt Chorale, conducted by Dr. Tucker Biddlecombe, and has studied voice with Amy Jarman. She has been recognized as a NATS Mid-South regional winner, Orpheus Competition national semi-finalist, NATS national semi-finalist, and YoungArts national winner. This is Sophia’s first time participating in an opera summer program and is so thrilled to be with Prague Summer Nights.
