Biography

Bass Sergii Magera graduated from the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy. He is a laureat of a number of international competitions including the Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens, the International Voice Competition Montserrat Caballé in Andorra and the International Voice Competition of Bilbao. Since 1998 he has been a soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine in Kiev, where he has performed many roles such as Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Banco (Macbeth), Oroveso (Norma), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Ramfis (Aida) and participated in a number of tours in Japan (2006–2016). From 1997 to 2017 he regularly appeared at the Chaliapin Festival in Kazan, Russia. He has guest appeared in Toulon (Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte), at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich (Ramfis in Aida and Commendatore in Don Giovanni), at the Polish National Opera, Warsaw (Zaccaria in Nabucco), and at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest (Capulet in Roméo et Juliette). With the Polish National Opera he performed at the Dubai Opera (Gremin in Eugene Onegin). He has appeared in concerts at the Ravenna Festival under Riccardo Muti, at the Moscow Philharmonic Hall, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, in Zaragoza, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, etc.
