

Seokjun Kim is one of the most exciting basses of the next generation. Recent and upcoming engagements include Timur Turandot, Caspar Der Freischütz, Hermann Tannhäuser, Osmin Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Don Basilio Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Staatstheater Nürnberg, Sarastro Die Zauberflöte and Banquo Macbeth with Prague National Theater, covers Ramfis Aida and Lodovico Otello for his first collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera. He has previously sung Daland Der fliegende Holländer, Banco Macbeth, Sarastro / Sprecher Die Zauberflöte, Truchseß Mathis der Maler, Herrrufer Lohengrin, all at Staatstheater Nürnberg, as well as Roberto I Vespri Siciliani and Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore at Korean National Opera. Concert engagements include Mozart's Requiem at St. Lorenz Church, Max Bruch's Das Lied von der Glocke, Mahler's Das klagende Lied and Mozart's C-Moll Messe with Hans Sachs Chor, Karl Kempter's Pastoralmesse and Händel's Messiah with Münsterchor, Fauré's Requiem at Chungdam Catholic Church, Saint-Saëns's Weihnachtsoratorium at the Gahoe Catholic Church. Since the 2022/23 season, he has been a member of the International Opera Studio at the Nürnberg Staatstheater, and he has joined the permanent ensemble in the 2024/25 season. Seokjun Kim studied at the Yonsei University Music School in South Korea with Professor La Kyung-Hye, graduating with top honors in 2020. A prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the Suri Music Competition, 2nd Prize at Tbilisi Opera Crown International Voice Competition, 1st Prize at Korea National Opera Competition, Finalist at Eva Marton Vocal Competition, 2nd Prize at Daegu International Vocal Music Competition, Finalist at Viotti International Music Competition, 2nd Prize at Donga Music Competition, 1st Prize at Joongang Music Competition, 1st Prize at Gloria Opera Music Competition.
