Born in Australia, she rst studied with Phyllis Danaher, then at the Australian Ballet School, from which she graduated to the Australian Ballet, led by its artistic director Dame Peggy van Praagh. After six years, she joined the Nederlands Dans Theater – then directed by Jaap Flier – as a result of their Australian tour in 1972. She danced until 1986, working with the choreographers Jerome Robbins, Glen Tetley, John Butler, Hans van Manen, Louis Falco, Jennifer Muller, Christopher Bruce, Nacho Duato, and, of course, Jiří Kylián, who has created many works for her. From 1986 to 2008, Roslyn Anderson served as the rehearsal director for the NDT 1. Commencing in 1979, she has assisted Kylián and other choreographers and has staged numerous Kylián ballets all over the world.
