Biography
Born in Vienna, Richard Maynau completed his acting studies in 1989. He has performed numerous roles in plays by Johann Nestroy, comedies by William Shakespeare and Georges Feydeau, as well as dramas, ranging from Arthur Miller to Theodor Csokor. He has made frequent tours of and guest appearances in Germany, performed at theatres in Vienna and other Austrian cities, and free drama associations (the Scala-Theater, Theater der Jugend, Wiener Kammerspiele, etc.). For two decades he worked as an assistant to the artistic directors of the Summer Theatre Festival in Röttingen and Theatre Days in Bad Kissingen (Germany); for more than 20 years he performed at the Municipal Theatre in Berndorf and for five years at the Summer Theatre Festival at Weitra Castle (Austria). In 2008, he co-founded the Residenztheater in Stockerau (Lower Austria) and a year later the Lenautheater. In 2010, he established the Theatre Department within the Music School in Stockerau. Besides managing the theatre, he has also taught there and served as a stage director.
