Regina Hofmanová


Regina Hofmanová studied translating and interpreting (English and Russian) at the Liberal Arts College of Charles University from 1983-1987, going on to receive a PhDr. degree in 1990. In 1998 she earned a degree in choreography from the Dance Departement of the Prague Academy of Performing Arts, where she studied with Proffesors Pavel Šmok and Marilena Halászová. She has completed many foreign study residences and workshops, for example with Michael Laub in Amsterdam, with Elisabeth Corbett in Maastricht, and at the Laban Centre in London. As a choreographer she has collaborated with Dance Conservatory in Prague, the Prague Dance Centre, and the USK figure skapting club. Her own dance company has performed her work on stages in Prague and Ostrava. Her previous opera work has been with State Opera Prague on The Soldier and the Dancer by Bohuslav Martinů (dir. D. Pountney and N. Raab), T. Madsen’s Circus Terra (dir. J. Nekvasil) in co-production with Norwegian National Opera, The Queen of Spades (dir. R. Hovenbitzer) and Bernstein’s Candide (dir. Michal and Šimon Caban). As a choreographer she has collaborated on the opera The Death of Klinghoffer (dir. J. Nekvasil), Man and Boy: Dada (dir. R. Tannenbaum), Montezuma (La Conquista) in the National Theatre Opera and Samson et Dalila (dir. M. Chudovský).
