Biography

Swedish mezzo-soprano Rebecka Wallroth will make her debut at the National Theatre Opera and the State Opera in the 2025/26 season in the role of Idamante (Mozart: Idomeneo, State Opera). Rebecka studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, where she also performed the role of Idamante at the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre. Her competition achievements include, among others, First Prize and the Karl Böhm Mozart Prize at the Ferruccio Tagliavini Singing Competition in Austria in 2023. That same year, she was a finalist in the Queen Sonja Singing Competition. In the summer of 2023, she portrayed Lilly in the world premiere of Andefabriken (The Ghost Factory) by Daniel Nelson at the castle in Vadstena, Sweden.

Since the 2023/24 season, Rebecka Wallroth has been a member of the International Opera Studio at Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. There, she has performed roles including the Second Handmaiden (Cherubini: Medea), Cretan Woman (Idomeneo), Second Wood Sprite (Dvořák: Rusalka), Mercedes (Bizet: Carmen), Second Lady (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Cherubino (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), among others.
