Ramaz Chikviladze’s recent performances include Timur (Turandot) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Bonzo (Madama Butterfly) at the Opéra de Nice, Opéra de Lille a Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Kochubey (Tchaikovsky: Mazeppa) at the Latvian National Opera in Riga, the Priest Fotis (Martinů: A Greek Passion) and Timur at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Opéra de Monte Carlo, Sparafucile (Rigoletto) at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, the title role in Boito's Mefistofele and Silva (Ernani) in Tel Aviv, Dikoj (Katya Kabanova) in Stuttgart, Colline (La bohème) in Malmö, Farfarello (The Love for Three Oranges) in Florence, The King (Aida) at the St Margarethen Festival, Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni) in Wuppertal, and Geronte (Manon Lescaut) in Essen. This season includes performances of Bartolo in Bonn, Nabucco at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi and Wurm (Luisa Miller) at the Hamburg State Opera. Between 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the ensemble at the Oper Bonn, where his repertoire included roles of Sarastro (Kouzelná flétna), Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Nilakantha (Lakmé), Dulcamara (L’elisir d‘amore), Oroveso (Norma), Bartolo, Leporello ((Don Giovanni) and Water-Goblin (Rusalka).
Ramaz Chikviladze studied at the conservatoire in his hometown Tbilisi, Georgia, and made his debut in 1995, while still a student, at the Georgian State Opera. In 2003, he joined the Opera studio at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and was engaged as a guest at the Festival Giovane in Pesaro and at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. From 2005 to 2008, he was a member of the ensemble at the Theatre Dortmund.
