Radka Fišarová

Biography

Radka Fišarová launched her singing career at the tender age of five in the Bambini di Praga chorus and at the same time also began studying singing and guitar at a public school of art. When she was twelve she formed her own country group, Auris, which during its six-year existence received a series of awards (e.g. three victories at the Porta competition). After finishing primary school she won a place at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatoire, from which she graduated in 1997. During her studies she sang all the songs for the film adaptation of Škvorecký’s short story Eine kleine jazzmusic. At that time she also had her first role in a musical: Leata in the Czech version of Hair. An appearance at Prague Castle in Bernstein’s Mass ensued. In 1998 she landed in a competition the title role in the musical Evita, thus becoming the youngest interpreter of the role in the world. Following Evita, she received an offer from Pilsen’s J. K. Tyl Theatre to portray Edith Piaf in the dance musical Edith - A Sparrow from a Suburb. She proceeded to Brno’s Mahen Theatre to enact the role of the Narrator in the performance of Zorba and then to Český Krumlov’s revolving stage to portray Kate in the musical The Magic Pot. She has also appeared at the Viola poetry café in a performance of Kainar’s poetry I Confess to Everything. Today she regularly takes the stage with the Czech Clarinet Quartet in the chamber concert programme Rhapsody in Black.
