Peter Račko

Biography

Tenor Peter Račko will make his debut at the National Theatre in the 2024/25 season as Vašek in Smetana's The Bartered Bride. Originally from Bratislava, he graduated from the J. L. Bella Conservatory in Banská Bystrica, continued his vocal studies at the JAMU in Brno and then at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. Since 2019 he has been a soloist of the State Opera in Banská Bystrica.

He is also a guest at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, e.g. in Suchoň's Svätopluk, Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Don Giovanni, Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Tosca, and Dvořák's The Devil and Kate. At the National Theatre in Brno he performed in productions of Janáček's The Fate and The Makropulos Affair or in Zámečník's Ferda the Ant, at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen and Puccini's Turandot, at the Teatr Wielki in Poznań in Donizetti's L’elisir d‘amore and at the Theater Freiburg in Janáček's The Makropulos Affair. He has participated in opera festivals in Hong Kong and Shanghai and concert tours in Japan.

His repertoire includes the roles of Nemorino (Donizetti: L’elisir d‘amore), Tamino and Monostatos (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Don Ottavio (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Ferrando (Mozart: Così fan tutte), Pong (Puccini: Turandot), Goro (Puccini: Madama Butterfly), The Fox (Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen), The Prince (Dvořák: Rusalka), Jirka (Dvořák: The Devil and Kate), Ferda (Zamečník: Ferda the Ant) and others. On his home stage he also sings operetta roles.
