Paweł Kołodziej, a young Polish bass, is a Master’s degree student at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław under the guidance of professor Bogdan Makal. In 2013–14, he also studied at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden under KS professor Olaf Bär. He is a participant of the Young Artists Programme – Opera Academy in the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera. He is a recipient of numerous prizes in both international and national competitions in: Kyiv, Wrocław, Kaunas, Sopot/Gdańsk, Białystok, Druskininkai, Włoszakowice. Paweł Kołodziej has participated in vocal and interpretation master classes with such distinguished artists as: Peter Kooij, Urszula Kryger, Giorgio Paronuzzi, Eytan Pessen, Ella Susmanek, Elisabeth Wilke, Włodzimierz Zalewski, and Teresa Żylis-Gara. He has collaborated with fine conductors including: Benjamin Bayl, Franz Brochhagen, Marzena Diakun, Ekkehard Klemm, Kazimierz Kord, Andrzej Kosendiak, Przemysław Stanisławski, and Tadeusz Zathey. He has also performed at many prominent music festivals such as: the International Festival ‘Wratislavia Cantans’, the Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, the Festival of Polish Music in Kraków, the Lago di Garda Music Festival in Arco, the International Festival ‘May with Early Music’ in Wrocław, and also cooperates with the Lower Silesia Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra and the Wrocław Philharmonic. Over the course of his studies, he has performed several roles such as: Seneca (Monteverdi: L’incoronazione di Poppea), Sarastro (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Thomassini (Poniatowski: Au travers du mur) and Ariodate (Handel: Serse) in the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. In September 2014, he made his professional debut as Claudio (Handel: Agrippina) in the Stanisławowski Theatre in cooperation with the Warsaw Chamber Opera. Paweł Kołodziej is the recipient of scholarships funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Mayor of Wrocław.
