Paul Tudor Moldoveanu

Demisoloist of The Czech National Ballet

Biography

Born in Tulcea on the banks of the Danube Delta, Tudor Moldoveanu was drawn to dance as naturally as to the river current. He trained at Bucharest’s Floria Capsali High School of Choreography, refined his technique at the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera, and completed his formation at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School under Mavis Staines and Laurel Toto, performing early appearances in Giselle and La Bayadère.

Returning home, he joined the corps of the Romanian National Opera Ballet, adding roles in La Bayadère, Giselle and The Sleeping Beauty. Engagements with the National Ballet of Canada and Alberta Ballet soon followed: he plunged into Neumeier’s visionary Nijinsky, Wheeldon’s whimsical Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Welch’s lyrical Madame Butterfly.

Tudor entered the Czech National Ballet in 2014 and was promoted to demi-soloist the next season. Classical audiences know him as Ali Baba and the Four Princes in Márcia Haydée’s The Sleeping Beauty, the hot-blooded Tybalt in Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet, a menacing Rothbart in Swan Lake and the many-faced Devil of Vámos’s and Zuska’s Nutcracker.

His contemporary profile is equally rich: sculpting space in Forsythe’s The Second Detail and Clug’s Handman, carving explosive dynamics in Dadon’s Artza and Eyal’s Bill, or tracing musical silences in Kylián’s Petite Mort and Psalm Symphony. Pastor’s propulsive Moving Rooms and Cerrudo’s trance-like Dos Soles Solos reveal a dancer at ease with high voltage and delicate shading alike.

Guest appearances include the Romanian gala Regal de Balet (the Coppélia pas de deux and Poklitaru’s Moldova duet from Rain), the Slovenian National Ballet and a special performance at the Romanian Embassy in Prague. His competition record boasts first and second prizes at Romania’s National Ballet Contest and scholarships earned at the Youth America Grand Prix finals in New York.

Beyond the stage he studies human biomechanics and breathwork with mentors such as Mads Tömörkènyi, Wim Hof and Stig Severinsen, holding certifications in deep-tissue massage, cupping and fascial therapy—knowledge he applies to his own recovery and that of his colleagues. Bridging science and art, Tudor Moldoveanu reminds us that the dancer’s body is both temple and laboratory, powered by discipline, curiosity and an irrepressible Moldavian spirit.
