Biography

Ole Johannes Slåttebrekk is a gifted Norwegian dancer whose artistic journey spans classical, contemporary, and character dance. Currently performing with the Norwegian National Ballet, Slåttebrekk has showcased his versatility in both ensemble and leading roles. His career, marked by technical excellence and a strong stage presence, began after his education at prominent institutions, including the Moscow State Academy of Choreography and The Norwegian Ballet School. Throughout his professional journey, he has had the opportunity to work with esteemed choreographers and perform in major productions.

Slåttebrekk’s repertoire includes a wide range of works. He has performed in A sort of... by Mats Ek, Limerence by Kumiko Hayakawa in a lead role, and Light of Passage by Crystal Pite, which he performed at both the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. He also took a lead role in Nothing Personal by Alan Lucien Øyen for a main stage production. His classical repertoire features roles in Diamonds by George Balanchine, A Swan Lake by Alexander Ekman, and Sleeping Beauty by Christian Spuck, among others. In addition, he performed in Raymonda by Xander Parish, Canvas by Juliano Nunes, and Striking Birds by Juliano Nunes, where he danced as a demi-soloist.

In addition to his performing career, Slåttebrekk has also made his mark as a choreographer, staging original works for the Norwegian National Ballet Raw. He has excelled in international competitions, securing the Grand Prix at the World Ballet Grand Prix Singapore in 2021, a 3rd place in Classical Dance Solo at TanzOlymp 2021, and 1st place in Classical Ballet at the VII International Competition Ekaterinburg in 2021. He was also a soloist in the 200th Anniversary Performance of Marius Petipa in Perm, Russia.

Slåttebrekk’s training began at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, also known as the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, in Russia, and continued at The Norwegian Ballet School & Academy in Oslo, where he studied under Vladimir Sychev, a former student of Alexander Pushkin.

Fluent in Norwegian, English, and Russian, Slåttebrekk is an adaptable and skilled performer who continues to impress audiences with his multifaceted abilities.
