Swiss-born Nicole Morel received her training at the Conservatoire of Fribourg and the school of the Hamburg Ballet under John Neumeier. During her formation she was awarded several times the scholarship of the Migros Cuture Project for Dance. Her first professional engagement took her in 2003 to the Compañia Nacional de Danza 2 in Madrid under Nacho Duato and Tony Fabre. In 2007 she joined ballettmainz under Martin Schläpfer and followed him to Düsseldorf in 2009. Since then she has been dancing as a soloist for Ballett am Rhein (awarded 'Best Company of the Year 2013' by tanz magazine's international critics' survey). Her repertory includes choreographies of George Balanchine, Regina van Berkel, Christopher Bruce, Nils Christe, Nacho Duato, Mats Ek, Uri Ivgi & Johan Greben, Kurt Joos, Jirí Kilián, Hans van Manen, Amanda Miller, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, and Martin Schläpfer (including creations of Sinfonien and Ein deutsches Requiem, each awarded Der Faust theatre prize in 2009 and 2012), among others. In 2013 she performed in Merce Cunningham's work Pond way, and more recently in Cunningham's Scenario with Ballett am Rhein. At present she is freelancing as a creative dancer.
