Natsuki Nishiyama

Biography

Born on 26 August 2002, Japanese dancer Natsuki Nishiyama trained in Japan, Germany and Belgium. She studied at Ballet Labo Défilé (2015–2018), then at the Ballet Academy, University of Music and Theatre Munich under Jan Broeckx (2018–2021), finishing her studies with Junior Ballet Antwerp led by Alain Honorez (2021–2023).

With Junior Ballet Antwerp she appeared in Cinderella (2023, chor. Altea Nuñez & Alain Honorez), David Dawson’s Metamorphosis, Nicolo Fonte’s Alone/Together, Altea Nuñez’s Claroscuro (2022) and the multi-choreographer project SEASONS 4.0 (2021). School highlights include Laurencia (2020), Czárdás from Coppélia, Pas de trois from The Sea and Pearls, Études (2019), Four Little Swans from Swan Lake (2018) and Wilis in Giselle (2017).

Her prizes include scholarships from the Ballettschule der Wiener Staatsoper, Canada’s National Ballet School and The Australian Ballet School (all 2018), 3rd–4th place and a John Cranko Schule scholarship at the NBA Ballet Competition Japan (2018), 1st prize in Okayama Ballet Competition (2016) and a place in the Youth America Grand Prix finals (2015). She represented the Munich Academy at Assemblée Internationale 2020 in Toronto.

In January 2024 she joined the Czech National Ballet, making immediate impressions in both contemporary and classical works.
