Biography

Natalie Karl was born in San Remo. After her studies at Stuttgart University and winning several prizes at international singing competitions, the Cologne Opera became her musical home for many years. She has performed at other major opera houses like Staatsoper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Semperoper Dresden, Volksoper Wien, Opéra national de Paris, opera houses in Stuttgart, Monte Carlo, Parma, Bologna, Verona and at Hong Kong Arts Festival. Her collaborations with James Conlon resulted in CD-productions of Zemlinsky (Der Zwerg, Der Traumgörge) and Alban Berg (Lulu-Suite). She sings concerts and recitals at Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Philharmonie Essen, Kölner Philharmonie, Prinzregententheater München, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona and Royal Albert Hall London. Natalie Karl sings the great lyric repertoire. She has created Desdemona (Otello) at Oper Köln with Will Humburg and in Chemnitz with Frank Beermann, Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) at Semperoper, Rosalinde and Alice Ford (Falstaff) in Köln, Amelia (Simon Boccanegra) in Darmstadt, Jenny (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny) in Bonn, she sang in Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins in Mexico City, Blume von Hawai and Hänsel und Gretel in Stuttgart, and performes at various concerts with her husband, Matthias Klink.
