Mirko Guadagnini


He started his opera singer activity in 1998, winning the As. Li. Co Competition and making his debut in Il flauto magico (Tamino), Gustavo I Re di Svezia (Learco) by Galuppi in Montepulciano, Gianni Schicchi (Rinuccio), and Don Giovanni (Don Ottavio) within the «EURopera Studio» project. In 1999 he performed Monteverdi’s Orfeo in Köln, Peter Neumann conducting, and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Summer Festival of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under the baton of Corrado Rovaris. In August, Mirko Guadagnini opened the Tommaso Traetta Festival with two performances and the recording of Le serve rivali. In November, he debuted at Teatro Regio di Torino singing the role of Tom Rakewell in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Bruno Campanella conducting. Mirko Guadagnini has recently performed in Dido and Aeneas (Enea) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Falstaff (Fenton), Otello (Roderigo) and Il pirata (Gualtiero) at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and in Kiss me Kate and Il matrimonio segreto at the Teatro Regio di Torino. He has just made three important role debuts: as Cassio in Otello at the Teatro Comunale di Bassano del Grappa, as Paolino in Il matrimonio segreto at the Opéra de Montecarlo and as Le Matelot in Le paure Matelot at the Teatro Rossini di Lugo. At the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi he is currently engaged in Olimpiade, under the baton of Ottavio Dantone. Mirko Guadagnini recorded some Madrigal pieces dating back to the 500’s and 600’s (Monteverdi, Gesualdo da Venosa), three Baroque works (Peri, Traetta, B.Marcello), the Mozart Kronungmesse, Cantatas by Stradella and Sammartini) and a contemporary work by the Italian composer Irlando Danieli; Adelaide de Place wrote: “un excellent tenor d’une delicatesse rare chez nos voisins latins” (1995, Diapason). He also carries out an intense concert activity, collaborating with such musical institutions as the Teatro alla Scala, Pomeriggi Musicali, Teatro Regio di Torino, Mantova Chamber Orchestra, Milano Classica, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma. This is her first guest performance in The National Theatre.
