Michaela Kukovičová

The illustrator and animator Michaela Kukovičová studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where she is currently a lecturer in illustration and book design. She devotes to book illustration, freehand drawing and collage, creates illustrations for websites, and leads creative workshops for children (Prague, Brno, Bratislava, Warsaw, Bucharest, Vienna). She regularly collaborates with Baobab, Host, Labyrint, Argo, Albatros and other publishing houses, as well as the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival. Books featuring her illustrations have garnered a number of prizes in the Nejkrásnější české knihy (The Most Beautiful Czech Books) and Zlatá stuha (Golden Ribbon) competitions. The book To je Praha (That’s Prague; Baobab, 2015), written by Olga Černá and containing Kukovičová’s illustrations, received an honourable mention at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
