Maverick Williams

Biography

Baritone Maverick Williams studies vocal performance under Salvatore Champagne at Oberlin College and Conservatory. A Double Degree student at Oberlin, he is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in English alongside his operatic voice studies. As an artist and performer, Maverick ventures boldly and dramatically into any genre, seeking to analyze and embody the full extent of the prosody of the text and the poetry of the music. Recently, he sang the roles of Joe, Bastianello the Elder, and Frediano in Oberlin’s double-bill of operas Later the Same Evening & Bastianello by John Musto. Maverick has been involved in many performances during his time at Oberlin, including Ophemón in Bologne’s L’amant anonyme, Nardo in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, and in the coming fall, he will be singing the role of The Father in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. This summer, Maverick is absolutely thrilled to be performing in the Prague Summer Nights Festival program. When offstage, Maverick plays original music with his band, and enjoys trivia, board games, and creative writing.
