Markus Korselt

Biography

Markus Korselt has been Managing and Artistic Director of the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester (SKO) since 2017. During his tenure, besides performing their standard repertoire, the orchestra have drawn attention with numerous remarkable innovative projects and activities. In 2022, the SKO became the very first German orchestra to begin reading music from tablets instead of sheets. They have pursued many projects using digital technologies and artificial intelligence, including the 2023 dual live/hologram performance HOLO HARMONIES in tandem with the Czech National Ballet in Prague. It is the world’s first production of its kind. With their new concert series, crossing borders between genres, the SKO is in great demand worldwide. Markus Korselt studied the cello at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and cultural management at the PH Ludwigsburg. He joined the Wiener Philharmoniker and became a solo cellist at the Theater Nordhausen. As a conductor, he has worked with prominent German chamber orchestras, the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, L’arte del mondo, Lautten Compagney Berlin and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, while collaborating with superb soloists, including Nicolas Altstaedt, Lise de la Salle, Daniel Müller-Schott and Kit Armstrong
