
Mario Sobrino
Biography
He was born in Madrid, Spain, where from 2014-2016 studied at the dance conservatory (Conservatorio professional de danza Carmen Amaya), then from 2018-2020, he continued his studies at the English National Ballet School. He also gained dance experience by collaborating on ballet productions of the English National Ballet (e.g. The Cinderella choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, The Nutcracker choreographed by Wayne Eagling).
During his studies, he participated in many workshops and summer dancing courses, such as Artof: Forsythe in Madrid (2019), IBStage, a summer ballet programme for young talented people in Barcelona, and the international summer school of the Royal Ballet in London.
In 2017 he was the finalist in the competition Youth America Grand Prix in Barcelona.
From 2020/2021 he joined the ballet ensemble of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre as a corps de ballet with soloist obligations.
He is a talented young dancer who has captivated the Ostrava audience with several roles. In the classical repertoire, he has successfully performed in ballets Coppélia (the Lieutenant) choreographed by Giorgio Madia, and The Nutcracker – Christmas Story (Russian Dance, Waltz - solo) choreographed by Youri Vámos. He also drew attention to himself with roles in Carmen (Animal, Zuniga) and Memories of Mahler.
Since 2022/2023 he has been a soloist with corps de ballet obligations.
