Biography

Russian mezzo-soprano Marina Prudenskaya makes her debut at the National Theatre Opera in March 2023 as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth). However, she has sung at the Prague State Opera before, at the Gala Concert of Winners of International Singing Competitions under the baton of Hilary Griffith (20 June 1996). She was a prize-winner at the Antonín Dvořák International Competition in Karlovy Vary and in 2003, she won the ARD International Music Competition. After graduating from the conservatoire in her native St. Petersburg, she was engaged by the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre in Moscow. Since 2013 she has been a soloist of the State Opera Berlin. Guest appearances have taken her to major opera houses and prestigious festivals around the world, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and Teatro Real in Madrid (Azucena, Il Trovatore), Palau de les Arts in Valencia and the Hamburg State Opera (Amneris, Aida), Bavarian State Opera in Munich (Octavian, Der Rosen-kavalier; Fricka, Die Walküre; Waltraute, Götterdämmerung), the Paris National Opera (Eboli, Don Carlo and Kundry, Parsifal), the Antwerp Opera (Lady Macbeth, Macbeth), the Vienna State Opera (Hérodias, Salome), La Scala in Milan (Lyubascha, The Tsar's Bride) and the Bayreuther Festspiele (Fricka, Walküre; Waltraute, Götterdämmerung and Mary, Der fliegende Holländer), among others.
