
Marek Gurbaľ

Marek Gurbaľ studied singing in 1996-2002 with Ľudmila Šomorjaiová at the Conservatory in Košice (Slovakia). Since 2001, he has been a soloist of the State Theatre in Košice. He has performed in State Opera in Banská Bystrica, the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, and National Theatre in Brno. His repertoire includes roles such as Puccini's Marcello and Schaunard (La bohème), Gianni Schicchi, Mozart's Don Giovanni, Figaro, Donizetti's Doctor Malatesta (Don Pasquale) and Belcore (L'elisir d'amore), Bizet's Escamillo (Carmen), Gounod's Valentin (Faust), Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, etc. In 2004, he was awarded by Slovak literary fund for his creation of Don Giovanni.
