Biography

Tenor Marcelo Puente studied music at Conservatorio of Córdoba (Argentina) and he studied vocal tecnichal at Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires with Maestro Renato Sassola. He made his debut in April 2001, singing the role of “Il Duca” from Rigoletto, by G. Verdi at Teatro San Martín of Córdoba, Argentina. That same year debuted in Europe in Düsseldorf (Germany), singing the main role of “La Dame Blanche” by G. Boeldieu. In 2001-2003 he was living in Düsseldorf where he continued his music studies with the “Opernstudio” of the “Deutsche Oper am Rhein”, where he sings also roles of the classic operistic repertory. He also sings at the Festival Internacional in Savonlinna (Finland), with the company “DOR” at “Der Rosenkavalier” by R. Strauss. In 2003, he won the International Award for young singers “Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland”, where he made his debut singing “Carmen” (Don José) of Bizet with the “Bundesjugendorchester” conducted by Maestro Yakov Kreizberg at the Summer Festival of Weikersheim Castle. In 2005 Marcelo Puente came back to Argentina where he sang the main roles of “La Bohème” (Rodolfo), “M. Butterfly” (B.F Pinkerton), “La Traviata” (Alfredo), “Tosca” (Cavaradossi), “Carmen” (Don José). In 2007 he was finalist of the Plácido Domingo International Competition of Singing “Operalia” at Paris. In 2008 Marcelo sang the World premiere opera, “El Ángel de la muerte” (Azrael) of Mario Perusso at Teatro Argentino de la Plata, “La Bohème” (Rodolfo) at Colombia and “Los Cuentos de Hoffmann” (Hoffmann) of J. Offenbach at Teatro Argentino de La Plata with a big sucess. In 2009 / 2010 season, he participated at the zarzuela anthology “Viva Madrid” at Teatro de El Canal (Madrid); he sang “Carmen” at Curitiba (Brasil); “Tosca” (Cavaradossi) at Murcia Auditorio (Spain) with Juan Pons; a Zarzuela Concert at Pamplona; “Lady Macbeth” of Mtsensk (Serguei) at Teatro Argentino de La Plata; “Yerma”(Juan) of H. Villalobos for the Manaos Festival in Brazil; a concert at Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires and “Tosca” at Opera Ireland in Dublin. In 2010/2011 season he sings: “Carmen” (Don José) at Cape Town Opera, also at Teatro Villamarta of Jerez de la Frontera and Teatro Dell’Opera Giocosa (Savona); “La Chulapona” zarzuela at Teatro Campoamor (Oviedo, Spain). In October 2011 he made his debut at the Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires with the tenor leading role, Hipolito in the world premiere opera of Mario Perusso, FEDRA. In the 2011-2012 season he sang Rodolfo in Puccini's La Boheme in the main theaters of Lucca, Pisa, Ravenna and Livorno.
