Marcel Brunner

German bass-baritone Marcel Brunner makes his debut at National Theatre Opera as Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) in November 2024. He studied opera singing at the Universities of Music in Mannheim and Karlsruhe with Christiane Libor and Snezana Stamenkovic. He also spent two years working intensively with Julia Varady on his opera repertoire. From 2018 to 2024 he was a soloist with the Nationaltheater Mannheim where he appeared, for example, as Mozart’s Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Leporello (Don Giovanni) and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Alberich and Gunther (Wagner: Der Ring an einem Abend), Eremit (Weber: Der Freischütz) and Herzog Blaubart (Bartók: Herzog Blaubarts Burg). He has also been a guest artist at the Oper Leipzig, State Opera Stuttgart, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Aaltotheater Essen, Theater Bonn, Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and Gent, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg and Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck. In 2018 he sang Klingsor in a production of Parsifal for children with the Berliner Philharmoniker at the Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden and in the Berliner Philharmonie.
