Lukáš Šimon

Biography

Mime artist, performer, author, choreographer and teacher working in the field of physical theatre. In his artistic and pedagogical work he focuses on a wide range of genres, particularly pantomime, clowning, commedia dell’arte, physical and dance theatre, and contemporary circus. Graduated from the Department of Nonverbal Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU), where he currently teaches the course Pantomime and Physical Mime. Founder of the pantomime group Mime Studio. He also collaborates with the circus ensembles Sacra Circus, AirGym Art Company and Long Vehicle Circus. In addition, he performs as a physical actor at the Image Theatre and collaborates on opera productions at the National Theatre and Rock Opera Prague. Since 2010 he has been involved in teaching juggling, acrobatics and other circus disciplines, as well as mime and physical theatre, primarily at the contemporary circus centre Cirqueon. His current work focuses on his own creative projects and the exploration of new forms of physical theatre, particularly street theatre. He has also collaborated as a choreographer and movement coach on several dramatic theatre productions in Prague, Cheb, Šumperk and Most. He also appears as an action extra in international films and television series, including All Quiet on the Western Front, Extraction 2, The Wheel of Time and Dangerous Liaisons.
