Biography
The Finnish alto Laura Nykänen graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and debuted in 1994 at the Savonlinna Music Festival. Between 1996 and 1998 she was a member of the ensemble in Kiel and since the 2000/2001 season has been engaged at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 1998 she performed at the Bayreuth Festival as the Flowermaiden in Parsifal, while in 2000 she appeared as Flosshilde in Die Walküre. Her repertoire includes the roles of Carmen, Orpheus, Prince Orlowski (Die Fledermaus), Bramante (Alcina), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Isabella (L’Italiana in Algieri) and Fricka (Das Rheingold).
