Biography
Guest of the National Theatre Opera. Katarína Jorda Kramolišová studied voice at the Bratislava Conservatory under the tutelage of Prof. Ružena Illenbergerová and between 1989 and 1993 at the Faculty of Music of the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava with Prof. Eva Blahová. She completed her voice studies in 1993 at the Prague Mozart Academy in Dobříš. At the present time, she is a soloist of the opera ensemble of the Silesian Theatre in Opava. She has appeared as a guest on the stages of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, the Theatre in Banská Bystrica, the State Theatre in Košice, the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava, the National Theatre in Brno and the National Theatre in Prague. Her repertoire includes a host of soprano roles: when it comes to Italian opera, they include Bellini’s Norma – for which she received the 2004 Thalia Award – Donizetti’s Norina (Don Pasquale) and Lucia di Lammermoor, Verdi’s Amelia (I Masnadieri) – for which she won the Libuška award at the Opera 2003 festival – Gilda (Rigoletto) and Alice Ford (Falstaff); from the Mozart operas Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte). As regards the Czech repertoire, she sings Dvořák’s Rusalka, Smetana’s Milada (Dalibor) and Mařenka (The Bartered Bride), and Martinů’s Mariken of Nimégue (The Miracles of Mary) and Colombina (Theatre Behind the Gate). In Prague she recently appeared within the guest performance given by the Opava ensemble in the lead role of the Japanese opera Yuzuru by the composer Ikuma Dan, staged in the Japanese original. Katarína Jorda Kramolišová is also a sought-after concert performer – she has had the opportunity to introduce herself on stages in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain and Slovakia. Update: January 2008
