Biography
The award-winning American composer and television writer Justin Hurwith is best known for his long-time collaboration with the director Damien Chazalle, scoring for his highly acclaimed films Whiplash, La La Land and First Man.
He studied at Harvard University, where Chazalle was his roommate. They continued to work together after moving to Los Angeles following their graduation. Hurwitz occasionally wrote for sitcoms. His greatest success to date has been two Oscars: for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for La La Land.
