Johan Kobborg

Biography

Johan Kobborg has enjoyed a distinguished career as a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet and the Royal Danish Ballet. As a guest artist, he has performed with most major companies worldwide, including the Mariinsky Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, La Scala, National Ballet of Canada, National Ballet of China, Bayerisches Staatsballett, Boston Ballet, Wiener Staatsballett, Stuttgarter Ballett, San Francisco Ballet, Tokyo Ballet, Hamburg Ballett, National Ballet of Cuba, and many more.
He has also gained great recognition as a choreographer with leading companies, creating works for The Royal Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Ballett Zürich, National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Ballet, Lithuanian National Ballet, Leonid Yakobson Ballet Theatre of St Petersburg, Royal New Zealand Ballet, and others.
Johan Kobborg’s most acclaimed creations and productions include Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, Don Quixote, Giselle, La Sylphide, Napoli, Salute and Les Lutins. He was the lead choreographer on Ralph Fiennes’s 2018 feature film The White Crow, about the early life of Rudolph Nureyev.
Johan Kobborg has won numerous awards as both dancer and choreographer, and has received the prestigious Order of the Dannebrog from Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
