Ing. Jarmila Levko

Administrative Director of the National Theatre Opera and the State Opera

Biography

Jarmila Levko came to the National Theatre from Liberec, where she worked for 11 years at the three-ensemble F. X. Šalda Theatre, first as deputy director for finance (2011–2014) and then as director (2014–2022). She ended her tenure as director after becoming a member of the Czech Parliament, where she was a member of the Budget Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. In addition to economic issues and foreign policy, she focused on culture, human rights, and mental health issues. At the end of her term, she decided not to run for re-election and to return to the cultural sphere.

She also has extensive experience in the media, first at private regional radio and television stations, then as an editor, presenter, and head of the Liberec editorial office of Czech Radio.

She graduated in economics and management from the Technical University of Liberec. In the 1990s, she also worked in marketing for HC Slavia and the Velká Chuchle racecourse. She still enjoys going to hockey (and soccer) games today.

She is the proud mother of now-adult twins and has a passion for travel, music, and books.
