

Biography
Contemporary dancer, choreographer, performer, visual artist and Pilates instructor Jana Vrána made her debut in the National Theatre in August 2003 (The Beauty and the Beast) in collaboration with Forman Brothers’ Theatre. She has been performing with a number of theater companies in Europe, Asia and North America. Born in Jihlava, Jana represented the Czech Republic in acrobatic rock ’n’ roll during her childhood, winning multiple Czech and World Championship titles. She graduated from the Duncan Centre Conservatory in Prague led by Eva Blažíčková and studied under the guidance of many international choreographers and performers. Duncan opened her the path to dance, improvisation and theatre. While still a student of the Conservatory, she received a prize at the New Europe International Choreographic Competition. She spent part of her Conservatory studies at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. Jana has been living in NY for the last few years where she collaborates with multi-genre company End of the Weak. She works as a dancer, choreographer and model for photographers, musicians, designers and filmmakers. She regularly collaborates with directors, choreographers and artists on shows and visual installations. She also graduated The Space Pilates School in NY and works as a Pilates instructor. She has been collaborating with the National Theatre for more than 25 years. She collaborated with the directors Jiří Heřman (The Legend of Erin), Daniela Špinar (From the House of Death) and Robert Wilson (Káťa Kabanová), with the Forman Brothers’ Theatre (Obludárium, The Beauty and the Beast, Enchantment, Water witch), with David Radok (Arsilda) and SKUTR (Romeo and Juliet, the Summer Shakespeare Festival). Other previous collaborators have included Fredrik Bond, End of the Weak, Vladimir 518, WWW, Loser(s), Dana Bezděková, Cinema Royal, Lunchmeat etc. She also focuses on her own productions where she combines dance with new mediums and explores the diverse facets of dance expression as well as everyday physical experiences (Sense of Self, 2025; Black & White, 2017; Resolution, 2016; Clean Cut, 2015; Electra, 2013; Sphinx, 2011; Magnet, 2009; Bees, 2006; Catharsis, 2004).
