Biography

Jan Adam graduated from the Dance Conservatoire in Brno and during his studies he performed in ballet and opera performances at the National Theatre Brno. He attended Daria Klimentová's Ballet Masterclasses and also participated in the International Contemporary Dance Workshop in Prague. He was a member of the ballet company of the State Opera Prague (2011/12), the ballet company of the National Theatre in Prague (2012–2016) and the ballet company of the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec (2016–2019), where he received several solo opportunities and also led classical training for the ballet company. In June 2019, he graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with a degree in dance pedagogy and since February 2024 he has been teaching stage movement in the Department of opera singing and opera directing at this Academy. Since August 2019 he has worked at the National Theatre Opera as an assistant director, he dances in the National Theatre Opera Ballet and choreographs. In 2020 he participated in the production of Lolita at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg as assistant director to Slava Daubnerova, and in 2021 he choreographed Verdi's Rigoletto (directed by Barbora Horáková Joly) at the National Theatre in Prague, then he participated in the production of The Seven Deadly Sins at Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao as assistant choreo-grapher and director (directed by Barbora Horáková Joly) and in the production of The Seven Deadly Sins /Erwartung in Prague (movement coach and the role of the Dead Man). In 2023 he choreographed Le nozze di Figaro (National Theatre Mannheim and National Theatre Prague, directed by Barbora Horáková Joly). In the 2023/24 season, he collaborated with Slava Daubnerová on the production Ariadne auf Naxos (movement coach).
