Biography

Jan Adam graduated from the Conservatory of Dance in Brno. In 2009 and 2010 he attended ballet masterclasses led by Daria Klimentová. In 2010 and 2012 he participated in an International Contemporary Dance Workshop in Prague. He was a member of The Prague State Opera ballet company (2011/12) and The Czech National Ballet (2012-2016). In the 2016/17 theatre season (till 2019), he joined the ballet company of the F.X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, where he performed as a soloist (Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Director King in The Sleeping Beauty, the King in The Little Prince, Alter ego in Gazdina roba, Shapkin in The Storm). He also worked as a ballet teacher. Currently, he is a dancer, choreographer and assistant director at The Prague National Theatre. He also dances at The Kalich Theatre. In 2020 he worked as an assistant director in the production of Lolita directed by Sláva Daubnerová at The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. In 2021 he choreographed a new production of Rigoletto (directed by Barbora Horáková Joly) at The Prague National Theatre. As an assistant choreographer and assistant director participated in the production of Seven Deadly Sins at The Arriaga Theatre in Bilbao (2021, directed by Barbora Horáková Joly). He also participated in the NT production Seven Deadly Sins/Erwartung (movement cooperation/role of the Dead Man). In 2023 he choreographed a new co-production of Le nozze di Figaro (National Theatre Mannheim and NT Prague, directed by Barbora Horáková Joly). In the 2023/24 season, he collaborated with director Slava Daubnerová on the production Ariadne auf Naxos (movement collaboration).
