Jakub Jahn

Biography

Jakub Jahn is an artist uniquely combining a variety of stylistic and genre approaches. As a filmmaker, he has mainly focused on projects pertaining to contemporary art, architecture, design and fashion. In 2016, he completed the documentary A Living Space, which he shot at the Watermill Center for the arts and humanities in New York upon the invitation of its founder, the celebrated theatre director Robert Wilson. From 2012 to 2018, Jakub Jahn led a team mapping the Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week. Over the long term, he has collaborated with the apparel designer Liběna Rochová, about whom he will be shooting a full-length documentary. Furthermore, he has created graphic installations and pursued conceptual projects, based on positive psychology. He has initiated the collective artwork titled Česká vděčnost (Czech Gratitude), whose aim it is to compile the world’s largest collection of letters of gratitude, and thus interconnect Czech society and enhance the awareness of gratitude as a simple psychotherapeutic technique that may help us to markedly improve the quality of our lives.
