Biography
Bulgarian bass Ivo Stánchev makes his National Theatre Opera debut in the 2023/24 season as Zaccaria (Nabucco, State Opera new production). He has been a permanent member of the Theater Hagen since the 2019/20 season. He has guest appeared as Old Hebrew (Samson et Dalila) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf-Duisburg, Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Opéra Toulon, Ghost (Hamlet), Leone (Attila) and Surin (The Queen of Spades) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Tom (Un ballo in maschera) at the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, A monk (Don Carlo) at the National-theater Mannheim, Timur (Turandot) at the Gut Immling International Festival and Colline (La bohème) at the Glyndebourne Festival. He has also created Zabulón (Rafael Millán Picazo: La dogaresa), Cano (Pablo Sorozábal: Juan José), Pascual (Emilio Arrieta: Marína) and Salieri (Rimsky-Korsakov: Mozart and Salieri) at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. Ivo Stánchev graduated from the National Academy of Music Pancho Vladigerov in Sofia and attended master classes with Vladimir Galouzine, Roberto Scandiuzzi, Teresa Berganza and Deborah Polaski.
